Design and Technology - Textiles

We offer a number of textile related practical activities that are linked to Design and Technology in the National Curriculum. The following activities could be included in your visit:

Designing and producing

 

  • A Mexican eye (wool weaving around crossed sticks)

 

  • A place mat (weaving paper or recycled card in a variety of weave patterns)

  • A Stone Age belt (stick weaving on three or more sticks)

 

  • A friendship bracelet (a weaving technique which does not required a loom)

  • A Viking braid (a complicated technique of finger weaving better suited to small groups of older/secondary children)
